Podcast of the Month
with Karolin Frohnert
by NPR and Shankar Vedantam
Hidden Brain is one of my all time favourite podcasts. Host Shankar Vedantam explores why we behave the way we do by revealing unconscious patterns that drive our behaviour, influence our choices and impact our relationships. He uses science, storytelling and interviews to help us dive deeper into our own minds, question our motives and understand our actions. I love the way he compassionately discusses sensitive subjects and gently prods his interviewees to understand their thoughts.
Episode topics vary, but some of my favourites deal with evaluating your own past actions, why nobody feels rich, why we lie and what happens to our bodies and minds in extreme stress situations.
Listening to this podcast has given me a better understanding of why we do what we do and has made me more compassionate towards others, as well as myself. Shankar started the podcast in 2015 and with a new episode every week there are plenty to catch up on.
