WITH LAURA-DEE QUINN from
Hello! I’m Laura-dee Quinn and I’m originally from the UK. I’ve been in the beauty industry for over 15 years, starting my career working on cruise ships which lead to working in 5-star spas in Bermuda, Grand Cayman and Australia. I worked in beautiful Queenstown back in 2008 for two years but always had the passion to pursue teaching. I returned to the UK in 2010 to complete a teaching and assessing qualification specialising in Beauty, Massage & Holistic Therapies. In 2013 I was offered the programme manager position at The Southern Institute of Technology, running the department and teaching the beauty therapists of the future. In 2018, I decided to pursue my life long dream of establishing my own beauty salon and training school, and ‘The House of Beauty Therapy’ was born…
I look forward to being a part of your day and sharing my beauty tips with you each month, based on my years of industry knowledge and secrets
GET YOUR SKIN WINTER READY!
As much as it’s important to cleanse tone and moisturise every day, there are several ways you can also keep your skin hydrated through winter and keep the skin looking well-nourished and healthy.
Exfoliating the skin once a week
By exfoliating the skin using either a granular scrub or an enzyme peel every week, you’re helping remove dead skin cells that build up on the skin day after day. By removing this build up you let the skin ultimately absorb up to 30 percent more product within the skin layers, leaving the skin smoother, brighter and working to its optimal production.
Use serums nightly
There are lots of different serums that can be used and they all contain ingredients that work on specific skin types and concerns. A good all rounder serum is one that contains ‘Hyaluronic Acid’ .
Hyaluronic Acid is a water consistency that is naturally produced within the skin’s cells. With pollution, sun damage and ageing, the cells begin to deplete this moisture, therefore leaving the skin dehydrated, dull and causing premature aging such as fine lines and wrinkles. When using a Hyaluronic Acid serum, it’s best to apply underneath a night cream before bed. This will therefore penetrate to the dermis and regenerate the cells while you sleep, giving them a plumped out and well hydrated appearance.
